This year is a pretty bad year. Lots of choices to be made that will seriously affect my life. It’s like a split road in life. Every step that I take will affect my life. I never realise that I am already 20 years old this year. Seriously, I still behave like a kid. If fortunate enough, I should be getting married soon and having my 1st kid soon. But as you can see, I am damn unlucky. LOL.
But still, I am still going to be 20 years old soon. There are still many choices that I have to make this year. This will determine where I will be in the future. But some of the path are interesting. I wish to walk that path many years ago. But as I grow older, the feelings starts to fade… You are not longer sure is this really the path you should take. And as you walk along this path, more interesting path open up in your life.
Take Com Sci as example. It’s more on programming than on games programming. So I really wonder if I should waste my time on it. Getting a degree is good. Means higher pay. Maybe like $200 to $300 higher starting pay than a diploma guy. But I am spending 4 years just to get $300 more pay per month.
I stop to wonder. If I spend 4 years working in a game company, will I excel better? 4 years of doing related stuff compared to 4 years of learning foundations and learning theory that not 100% relevant to games programming. If I have 4 years of working experience I should get a pay rise more than $300 I guess.
The degree is like an ”attack +3 sword”. But working experience will level me up to level 6 and let me use ultimate skill. If I choose working experience, no doubt I will be stronger at early game. So I will be a early-game hero So maybe I can even pwn those just graduated degree holder with ease. But after a few years, they will eventually gain enough experience points and learn ultimate skill. So they are mid-game hero.
So during mid-game, they will have same skills as you. Plus they still have the attack +3 sword. So you are going to either lose or on par with them during mid-game. When its reaching late-game stage, degree holder will win. Because both of your skill are at the maximum already. But they still have the attack +3 advantage.
In the end I choose to give $6000 per year for 4 years to get the attack +3 sword. But actually the feeling for programming is slowly fading. Dunno why but I feel like trying to go for business course. Business course was kenna cross out by me during poly selection. But as you walk down the path of life, things starts to change. The once beautiful path starts to rot. And the other path which you didn’t like in the 1st place now seems a lot beautiful than the current path.
But now I have choosen Com Sci. I will just have to make this path interesting. Maybe plant more flowers or something along the path. Time to make an decision for other choices. So many things need to be decided. Well… thats life I guess. XD
